BUGIO

There is a long-standing tradition in the village where I grew up. It is many years old and recreates a local legend. It is celebrated on Saint John’s Day, in Sobrado, Portugal, and it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I have never missed a single year of this tradition since I was born, and I hope it stays that way. Some time ago, my wife challenged me to create something related to this tradition within my own field. I found the idea very interesting, but I had never really thought about it before, and at the time I was busy with other projects. Then, during a visit my wife made to Comporta, she told me she had seen one of Christian Louboutin’s houses. I went to look it up, and the moment I saw the first image of the house, a photograph by Clément Vayssières, everything clicked.
